Teulu Travel expands fleet with new coach from Asset Alliance…

Family-run operator Teulu Travel has expanded its fleet with the addition of its first brand-new coach, a move that also marks its first deal with Asset Alliance Group.

The company, founded in 2019 and based in Trealaw, Rhondda Cynon Taf, has acquired a Temsa HD13 57-seater PSVAR-compliant coach through a hire purchase agreement with Asset Alliance Group. The vehicle entered service during the busy summer season and has already impressed the operator with its reliability and performance.

“We’ve previously always purchased our used vehicles outright. However, working with Asset Alliance Group has allowed us to bring onboard our first new coach,” said Dorian Chapman, Director of Teulu Travel. “The new Temsa will require less maintenance than the older vehicles it replaces, deliver improved reliability, and if there is an issue, we have the peace of mind that it’s covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.”

The hire purchase agreement enables operators like Teulu Travel to benefit from vehicle ownership while spreading costs over time. The arrangement offers flexibility around VAT payments and potential tax advantages through capital allowances.

In addition to the new Temsa, Teulu Travel has also added a used 2017 Neoplan Tourliner 61-seat coach, built by MAN, with both acquisitions supported by Asset Alliance Group.

Scott Burke, National Sales Manager at Asset Alliance Group, who oversaw the deals, said:

“I had the pleasure of meeting Dorian at his premises to fully understand the business and its objectives, and we quickly built a rapport. I’m delighted to have onboarded Teulu Travel as an Asset Alliance Group customer and wish them safe travels with their new vehicles.”

True to its name – Teulu means “family” in Welsh – the company has given its new coaches personal touches. The Temsa has been christened Jenson, after Chapman’s son, while the Tourliner bears the name Lady Pauline, in tribute to Chapman’s late mother. The names, added by local firm Dab Hand Signs, match each coach’s personalised number plate.

Teulu Travel has built a reputation that blends family values with a touch of showbusiness. Chapman’s previous ventures supplied the vehicle used as “Dave’s Coaches” in the hit TV series Gavin & Stacey, and the company now partners with Brit Movie Tours to run guided tours of filming locations around Barry.

Today, Teulu Travel operates a fleet of 20 vehicles ranging from 16-seaters to 61-seat luxury coaches, offering UK and European tours, private hire, school transport, and rail replacement services. The firm employs 30 to 40 staff at peak times and continues to grow its presence in Wales and beyond.
